Hisar, October 11 : Self-styled godman and head of Satlok Ashram, Rampal, was on Thursday found guilty of murder by the sessions court in Hisar. The judgement was pronounced by a makeshift court inside the Hisar Central Jail premises. Suspecting a law and order situation, Haryana Police has deployed over 2,000 personnel in Hisar and the adjoining areas.
Rampal and his supporters were accused of the murder of four women and a child during the clashes between police and his supporters at the Satlok Ashram in Barwala in November 2014. The quantum of punishment is likely to be announced on October 16 or 17 as per reports. The court of additional district and sessions judge (ADJ) DR Chalia pronounced the verdict in the November 2014 cases on Thursday, ending long legal proceedings.
Rampal is no stranger to controversy, in 2006, his comments on the Arya Samaj sect had resulted in violent clashes between the two groups.
To ensure that the Satlok Ashram supporters don’t go on a rampage after their leader was found guilty of murder, Six Superintendent of Police (SP) have been deployed to keep the situation under control besides Rapid Action Force (RAF), Special Task Force STF and police from adjoining districts.
